Message From the CEO

Dear Friends of Himalayan Life,

This year’s Annual Report is dedicated to the theme of building, whereby the focus is on building lives, including building robust relationships and building values. The report showcases how this is being accomplished with our various projects. You will find stories in which both children and members of staff share how their lives have been built up through the Himalayan Life programs. I hope that these stories will be a source of joy to you, as much as they are to me!

You might know that we are also in the process of building a school. I am grateful for the 10-acre property up on a ridge in the Yangri Valley which we have been able to purchase for developing the new campus. Construction of the first set of buildings is underway, and I look forward to regularly sharing the progress of this project with you, particularly once things get past excavation and building foundations. The importance of building the new school campus on higher grounds has been highlighted during the present monsoon season. Heavy rains once again made the otherwise idyllic Yangri River swell to a raging torrent, eroding further the embankments that were established after the 2021 floods. I am grateful that no further damage has occurred to our present school buildings, but out of an abundance of caution we had to close down the school for several weeks.

Neither building up the lives of children in need nor building the school is possible without you. It is your faithful giving, together with God’s grace, which allows us to do our work of protecting, nurturing, and educating children in the Himalayas. Thank you for your continued support, prayers and friendship!
