A message from Daniel & Karina Burgi, co-founders of Himalayan Life
Dear Friends of Himalayan Life,
War in Europe, famine in Gaza, tariffs in North America, and even the recent violent uprising in Nepal, causing great loss of life and property—the onslaught of troubling global news is relentless. For many, it has been confusing and exhausting, even leading to resignation or a sense of hopelessness.
In a time when chaos dominates the narrative, we at Himalayan Life believe that our calling is clear: to hold out stability and hope to the children under our care. We want them to know that they can depend on us, not only for food and education, but also for unconditional acceptance and affirmation; that they are loved. Exactly for such a time as this, our homes, schools, and dedicated staff exist: to be hope builders for and with the kids. One of my favourite moments in our Annual Report is the photo of the girls holding a sign that reads: “We are the hope.” That confidence and resilience are precisely what we long to nurture in every child we serve.
