Summer Camp in Leh, Ladakh, India
Himalayan Life hosted Esther Camp 2025, a 4-day summer camp in Ladakh, India, that brought together 66 enthusiastic children and 25 dedicated staff and leaders. Many of these children, from Nepalese migrant worker families, face extremely challenging socio-economic situations, yet the camp offered them a bright contrast: a space filled with laughter and play. Throughout the camp, participants engaged in a variety of activities designed to inspire teamwork, creativity, and community. The central themes emphasized the importance of courage and obedience, while also encouraging children to recognize and embrace their unique gifts and roles.
The days were filled with exciting games and creative experiences that the children thoroughly enjoyed. Sports competitions such as volleyball, cricket, and unihockey fostered teamwork and healthy competition, while creative workshops and fun team challenges sparked laughter, imagination, and connection. On the final day, everyone enjoyed a getaway picnic featuring games, food, dancing, and swimming (a highlight especially for the boys).
Though these children face many hardships, Esther Camp 2025 gave them the chance to simply be kids. The blend of interactive learning and recreational activities made the camp memorable and transformative for both the staff and the children. Everyone left with renewed purpose, lasting friendships, and hearts full of hope. Esther Camp 2025 was a remarkable success, reminding every participant that they are created “for such a time as this.”
