Bringing Practical Relief and Hope to Communities in Need
After assessing the situation in the disaster zone and working alongside a local church, our team on the ground is now delivering essential relief supplies, including propane cooking-gas cylinders, rain gear, and sets of mattresses, blankets, and sheets. The need for cooking gas is especially urgent. With roads and bridges washed away and supply lines disrupted, Nepal is facing a severe propane shortage. Our staff have been able to secure some 200 cylinders and spent the night taking turns guarding them to ensure they could be delivered to families in need.
Meanwhile, the first load of relief supplies has been delivered, utilizing the two Himalayan Life trucks. Kids from our Yangri school—who have first-hand experience of the Yangri flash flood of 2021—were helping prepare relief kits, while our staff, board members, and other volunteers in Nepal have been loading trucks, travelling into affected communities over treacherous roads, and distributing supplies to families in need.
This is the heart of Himalayan Life: coming alongside individuals, families, and communities, showing we care through practical help and meaningful relationships. We are deeply grateful that your generosity is making this response possible. Please continue to pray for the families affected by the floods, for our team as they serve, and for opportunities to bring both practical relief and hope to communities across Nepal.
