Kathmandu Student Home

Background:

For many students graduating from the Yangri Academic Center (YAC), pursuing higher education means leaving their remote mountain communities and relocating to Kathmandu. While they have the determination and academic ability to continue their studies, the cost and challenge of finding safe housing can become significant barriers. Recognizing this need, Himalayan Life established the Kathmandu Student Home to ensure students have the support they need to continue their educational journey.

Kathmandu Student Home:

Established in 2025 by Himalayan Life Foundation, the Kathmandu Student Home provides students with a safe, stable, and supportive environment as they pursue higher education. The home was created to support graduates of the Yangri Academic Center as they transition into Grade 11 and post-secondary studies, with a long-term vision of expanding to serve students from all Himalayan Life programs.

The home is managed by Santosh, who lives on-site with his wife and two children, creating a welcoming, family-like atmosphere where students receive both practical and emotional support. Along with secure housing, students are provided with nutritious meals and emotional encouragement as they navigate this important stage of their education. By removing barriers to higher learning, the Kathmandu Student Home helps equip students with the opportunity to build brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
